Funding Opportunity from Center for International Student Access - CISA

Greetings from the Center for International Student Access (CISA) here at George Mason University! We invite master’s and PhD students in the various disciplines to apply for the BRIDGE Scholars Program, a mentorship program that supports students in the graduate BRIDGE Program. This graduate mentorship opportunity is a cutting-edge initiative at GMU designed to assist international graduate students as they adjust to studying in the United States. Students like you strengthen these new international Mason graduate students, and we sincerely hope you will consider applying if you are in one of the following fields:Education, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chemistry, Telecommunications, and Software Engineering.

The BRIDGE Scholars Program is a yearlong, discipline-based scholarly partnership in which incoming international graduate students (in the disciplines above) are matched with current Mason graduate students who provide scholarly peer support.

Benefits:

ˇ         The BRIDGE Scholars Program provides funding to its Scholars – up to $5,000 in tuition and fees for the year!  This funding comes in the form of a scholarship, so if you have an assistantship you can still apply.

ˇ         Past BRIDGE Scholars have also reported that their work in the BRIDGE Program has been helpful in securing internships and job opportunities because of the unique experience the BRIDGE Program provides.

Requirements:

ˇ         Must be enrolled full time at George Mason, have completed at least 18 credits of graduate coursework in your field, have a 3.5 GPA, and demonstrate English proficiency in oral and written communication.

ˇ         BRIDGE Scholars are assigned 1 to 4 international students in a related major over the course of a semester, committing 3 to 5 hours a week with these students.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please apply for the BRIDGE Scholars Program by January 13, 2014, by submitting the following items through HireMason (http://gmu-csm.symplicity.com), # 88275:
