Subject: Mason Scholarship Opportunity for ECE master's or PhD students

Greetings from the Center for International Student Access (CISA) here at George Mason University! We invite ECE master's and PhD students to apply for the BRIDGE Scholars Program. The BRIDGE Scholars Program is a cutting-edge initiative at GMU designed to assist international graduate students as they adjust to studying in the U.S. Students like you strengthen the Program's outcomes and these new international Mason graduate students, and we sincerely hope you will consider applying.

The BRIDGE Scholars Program is a yearlong, discipline-based scholarly partnership in which incoming international ECE graduate students (and other disciplines) are matched with current Mason graduate students who provide scholarly peer support.

Benefits:

* The BRIDGE Scholars Program provides funding to its Scholars - up to $5,000 in tuition and fees for the year! This funding comes in the form of a scholarship, so if you have an assistantship you can still apply.

* Past BRIDGE Scholars have also reported that their work in the BRIDGE Program has been helpful in securing internships and job opportunities because of the unique experience the BRIDGE Program provides.
Requirements:

* Must be enrolled full time at George Mason, have completed at least 18 credits of graduate coursework in your field, have a 3.5 GPA, and demonstrate English proficiency in oral and written communication.

* BRIDGE Scholars are assigned 1 to 4 international students in a related major over the course of a semester, committing 3 to 5 hours a week with these students.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, please apply for the BRIDGE Scholar Program by January 13, 2014, by submitting the following items through HireMason (http://gmu-csm.symplicity.com), # 88275:

  1.  A curriculum vitae or r?sum?;
  2.  A writing sample;
  3. A list of three (3) faculty references; and
  4. A cover letter describing specific details on how you meet the criteria for the scholarship, and your qualifications in fulfilling scholarly responsibilities.

For a more detailed description of the position, please visit http://cisa.gmu.edu/opportunities and select "BRIDGE Scholars Positions." Please direct any questions to the BRIDGE Program Coordinator, Caitlin Holmes, at [log in to unmask] We look forward to hearing from you!
