If you intend to do HIST-804 (minor field readings) in the spring, you must have your proposal approved in advance by the Graduate Committee, which meets twice more during the fall semester. Deadlines for submitting proposals are as follows:

 

--Tues. 5 Nov. (for consideration at the 7 November meeting)

 

--Tues. 3 Dec. (for consideration at the 5 December meeting)

 

My advice would be to aim for November; if you run into some unexpected delays, then you've still got time.
