The Folger Shakespeare Library, a premier research library located in Washington, DC, seeks a temporary Curatorial Assistant for a four to six month position. Under the direction of
the Interim Head of Collection Information Services, the Curatorial Assistant will perform administrative tasks primarily for Art and Special Collections items, including: maintaining out-going loan records, creating and maintaining reference database records,
creating labels for publicly-displayed and stored artworks as directed, and recording information about collection storage areas. The assistant will also be responsible for creating records for conservation, organizing documentation, and general administrative
support. Monday through Friday, 35 hour work week.
This position requires a B.A. degree, preferably in the humanities, and one to two years experience in a research library or museum setting, preferably in a similar role. Applicants
must have strong computer proficiency with a variety of applications, specifically, with Microsoft Office Suite and wikis. Applicants must also have a familiarity with special collections. Experience handling art is preferred. Excellent organizational, interpersonal,
and communication skills are required. Applicants must also be able to work independently and as part of a team.
