As I've had several requests, here are some details on settings for
Thunderbird (17.0.5) and the Apple Mail app (6.3).
Note: please verify the server name in the OWA web interface as
it may NOT be the same for everyone.
If you can't log in to the web interface using your ID (just jdoe),
then you need to reset your password on https://password.gmu.edu
When using IMAP, your user name is your full email address
([log in to unmask]).
Thunderbird:
IMAP: pod51010.outlook.com (verify this in the web interface)
port: 993
Authentication method: Normal password
Connection Security: SSL/TLS
SMTP: pod51010.outlook.com (verify this in the web interface)
Port: 587
Authentication: method: Normal password
Connection Security: STARTTLS
Apple Mail app (will require manual configuration):
IMAP: pod51010.outlook.com (verify this in the web interface)
port: 993 (check SSL box next to port)
Authentication: password (on Advanced tab under accounts)
select "Edit SMTP server list" in drop down window for Outgoing
Mail Server
server name: pod51010.outlook.com (verify this in the web interface)
On advanced tab:
Check "Use default ports (25, 465, 587)"
Check "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
Authentication: Password
I have tested these settings and they work with the versions listed.
