Health and Flex Open Enrollment Dates Announced
The Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) has announced that Health and Flex Open Enrollment will be held from May 1-24, 2013 this year. Details, as they're available, will be posted on the HR & Payroll homepage.  This is later than usual; please advise your faculty and staff of the dates with special emphasis for 9-month faculty who may not be on campus throughout open enrollment.  Thanks so much for your help in getting out the word!

Life Planning Seminar: Medicare 2013 Primer: Need to Know Update
Has the Affordable Health Care Act changed Medicare? Do you need to enroll while still employed? Join us from 12-1pm on Wednesday, March 20th in University Hall, Room 2001 as Medicare expert Howard Houghton discusses these topics and more.  This session will be videoconferenced to the Arlington (Founders Hall, 322) and Prince William (Occoquan, 221) campuses.  Register at and click on the "Courses" tab.

Mason Night Out: DSW and Coyote Grille
Tick tock discounts are discounts with a deadline.  Our latest one comes to us from DSW.  On Thursday, March 21, from 10:00am-9:00pm only, a special discount is available for faculty, staff, and students at participating DSW stores.  You must bring the DSW flyer with you.  Download a copy at mymasonhr.  Choose myDiscounts from the left-hand menu and select "Tick Tock Discounts".  Special note -- if you're shoe shopping during your work day (with supervisor permission), please take appropriate leave.

Hungry after shoe shopping?  Faculty and staff can stop by Coyote Grill (Fairfax) between 5:00 and 10:00 pm on Thursday, March 21 only and enjoy a 15% discount with your Mason ID.

So round up your colleagues and have a Mason Night Out!

Reminder: It's Chronicle Survey Season
On Monday, March 18, Provost Stearns and Senior VP Davis will be sending out an email to the 900 randomly selected recipients of this year's Chronicle of Higher Education's Great Colleges to Work For survey (including 300 adjunct faculty).  The survey runs from March 18 - April 15.

We hope you can help remind your faculty and staff about the survey and encourage them to participate if they've been selected.  Their feedback is incredibly important and helpful.

It's Spring: Must be time for the Health & Fitness Expo...
Forget daffodils and tulips, it's not officially spring until the annual Health & Fitness Expo!  Stop by for free food, health screenings, and lots of great health information.

Thursday, March 28
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Johnson Center Dewberry Hall, Fairfax Campus

Thursday, April 4
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Bull Run Hall, Prince William Campus

Additional details are available on the  Health & Fitness Expo website. With supervisor permission, faculty and staff participation is encouraged; a reasonable amount of time spent at the Expo is considered training time and part of the Mason work day.

We hope you can stop by!  And don't forget, Kaiser Permanente will be in Fairfax on March 28 as well.  Details below.

Kaiser Permanente On Site on Health & Fitness Expo Day
Kaiser Permanente's mobile health vehicle will be at the Fairfax campus on Thursday, March 28 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm on the Southside Plaza offering free blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), blood glucose and cholesterol screenings.  Faculty and staff do not have to be Kaiser Permanente members to participate.  The process takes 10-15 minutes. Call the Work/Life Team at 3.2604 to schedule an appointment.

Reminder: International Student Wage Limits
Just a short reminder that Mason's international students are generally limited to a 20 hour work week as a condition of their visa.  Other Mason student employees, while not under the same restriction, should maintain a work schedule that permits them to put their primary effort toward their academic work.
