Hi Kevin and Collette:

Just reminding you and others about Black Heritage Month programs (http://odime.gmu.edu/), particularly our keynote event. Dr. Tricia Rose, from Brown University, will join us on February 21st at 7pm in the JC Bistro.

Her topic is – “Love Always Shines”: Making Just, Black Communities and Why They Matter.

Building mutually respectful, informed, compassionate, and supportive communities is always a challenge but doing it among marginalized communities on college campuses and in today's so-called "post-racial" world and troubling mass media environment makes these efforts even more complex. This lecture and conversation will discuss the hidden obstacles for making just black communities, the importance of doing so and the radical power of love, inclusion, and creativity. This event will be followed by a book signing, and books will be available for purchase. We hope that you join us for this discussion and book signing.

For more information about Dr. Rose, please visit http://www.triciarose.com/. For videos, please visit Dr. Rose on YouTube.

***ALSO, you were gracious enough to contribute monetarily to the Closing Ceremony last year. The student coordinators would like to know if you would be willing to contribute again (in anyway)? Let me know what you think. ***

Best regards,
