As I mentioned at the beginning of term if you are thinking of doing an 803 or 804 next term let me know so I can compile a master list. This has been helpful in the class if two students want to do the same thing but don't know it and to avoid multiple students going to profs individually.

Please tell me your name, if it's an 803 or 804, the subject/time period and if you've already talked to a prof and gotten their approval or if you are thinking of approaching a particular prof.

Hello, everyone.

The Graduate Committee was a little late scheduling its meetings for this semester, but here are the dates: Monday 29 October and Monday 3 December. If you intend to do a HIST-804 (Minor Field Readings/Exam) in the spring, you must submit your proposal for Grad Committee approval in advance of one of these two meetings. Please submit both a paper copy and an electronic one (email attachment) to Prof Randolph Scully at [log in to unmask].

You can find the minor field proposal form (which includes some brief instructions) at For more detailed information on how to organize and propose a HIST-804, please refer to the appropriate section of the Ph.D. program guidelines at

If you have any questions, let me know.
