Dear BIS Students,

Hello, my name is Kim Ruff and I am the Driver Coordinator for Fall for the Book (FFTB), GMU's annual celebration of the literary arts. FFTB would love to have your support with driving authors during the festival, which runs Wednesday, September 26th - Sunday, September 30th. Driving authors is a great opportunity to create conversation and connections with acclaimed writers in fields like Art & Graphic Design, Business & Finance, Education, Environmental Journalism, Folklore, History & Biography, Politics & Current Affairs, Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Writing, Publishing & Criticism.

The opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with an "insider" in the business is incomparable. Based on my experiences as a volunteer driver, I have found that authors truly enjoy talking about their writing process, the publishing industry, and, on occasion, have offered a free signed copy of their book.

Please consider volunteering to drive authors. We can't say this enough - student volunteers are
essential to the success of Fall for the Book! Duties include picking up authors from Reagan National or Dulles, Vienna Metro, or Union Station and driving them to an event or to the Mason Inn, where all authors are lodging. We do not have each author's complete travel schedule yet, but attached, in a word doc, is the most current schedule. Please review the document and if you are interested in volunteering send your availability or request to drive a specific author to [log in to unmask].

Thank you in advance!
