It's not too late to apply for summer study abroad. The Center for Global Education is currently accepting online applications for several different programs: Introduction to Classical Music in ASSISI This summer experience La Dolce Vita (the sweet life) with Mason music professor Mark Bergman at the Assisi Music festival. Feast your eyes on Giotto de Bondone’s world-famous frescos. Walk in the footsteps of the ancient Umbri and Saint Francis. Enjoy gelato on the Piazza del Comune in the shadows of the glorious Temple of Minerva. Free admission to all festival events and unprecedented access to the performers. Italian Language Study in FLORENCE AND ELBA Walk like a Medici in La Bella Toscana with Modern and Classical Languages professor Abigail Pare for four or six weeks while learning (or improving) your Italian language. Open to Italian language beginners, you'll see the art of Michelangelo Buonarotti and Pietro Cimabue, and exper- ience the architecture of Filippo Brunelleschi and Giotto di Bondone while enjoying the “historical cafés” (i caffe storici) in which the city’s artists and writers used to gather. Environmental Restoration and Sustainable Development in SENEGAL Led by professor Kwame Boakye-Agyei from Mason’s Environmental Science and Public Policy department, this program’s participants will engage in grass- roots community development in Senegal’s Ecovillage system by integrating principals of sustainability with cultural, economical, social, and environmental planning. Together, the student and faculty on this program create a learning community where remarkable educational environments facilitate real transform- ative intellectual and personal development. Marine Mammal and Penguin Biology in ANTARCTICA BONUS: spend New Year's Eve in Ushuaia, Argentina, preparing for the sixteen day voyage to Antarctica. Led by Associate Professor Dr. Chris Parsons, after crossing the Drake Passage students will spend their days landing in different Antarctic environments in the South Shetland Islands, along the western Antarctic Peninsula, and Weddell Sea and in zodiac boats cavorting with whales!
