Dear all,

Please read the message below and join me in congratulating Prof. Qiliang Li, of the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, who *also* is one of the three recipients, jointly with Siddhartha Sikdar, of Mason’s 2011 Emerging Researcher/Scholar/Creator Award. Prof. Li is being recognized by Mason for the quality of his work and for his talent. His award brings recognition to the school and to the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Qiliang is the recipient of an NSF CAREER award and is the PI/co-PI in over $1.7 million in research award.

VSE now has four faculty members who received this prestigious award: Qiliang Li (2011), Siddhartha Sikdar (2011), Songqing Chen (2009) and Carlotta Domeniconi (2008).

Well done Qiliang!

How sweet it is to be able to announce two wonderful news on the same day.

Danny

Subject: Congratulations! You have been selected at a 2010 Mason Emerging Researcher/Scholar/Creator

Dear Professor Li,

On behalf of the 2011 Mason Emerging Researcher/Scholar/Creator Award selection committee, I am very pleased to inform you that you have been chosen as one of the three outstanding young faculty to receive this award this year.

As you know, this award is given annually to three young scholars who are judged most likely to make significant contributions to their fields.  The committee is composed of University Professors representing a broad range of academic disciplines, and their task is a difficult one.  Even so, your academic record is truly outstanding and very deserving of this recognition.

The award provides you with $3,000.  You can receive this as a check (taxes will be withheld) or you can have the $3,000 (no taxes withheld) put into a University account to support your scholarly endeavors.  Please contact Donna Sherrard <[log in to unmask]> for payment information.

You will receive the award from Roger Stough, Vice President for Research and Economic Development, at the Celebration of Achievements ceremony on Wednesday, November 2nd, in the Center for the Arts concert hall main lobby.  The ceremony and reception will be from 3:30 - 5:00 pm and you are encouraged to invite your friends, family and colleagues.

We will be including short bios of the winners in the Mason Research 2011 magazine that will be published in January.  Someone from University Relations will be contacting you for information.

Congratulations!  We hope that this serves to remind you that you are greatly valued at Mason.
