Reminder: Annual AHA Heart Walk in DC
Here's a friendly competition for you. The race is underway to see which
area university has the most participants and raises the most money for the
American Heart Association (AHA) at its annual Washington Heart Walk. The
event is scheduled for Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 8:30 - 11:30 am at
Nationals Park in Washington, DC (Navy Yard Metro stop on the Green Line).

Mason is in the running to field the largest team in the College Cup.
Currently we're in first place but those other Georges are on our heels
(George Washington and Georgetown). You can help keep us on top!

To join the Mason team, please visit http://startgreaterwashington.org/
and...

*	Select "Find a Company" from the left- hand menu
*	Go to the Cs for College Cup.
*	Select "College Cup - George Mason University"

We hope to see you there! Don't forget to wear your Mason Gear!

PS Can't make it to DC on November 5th? That's ok -- join the team and take
a walk that day from any location. Walking is terrific exercise. Do it for
yourself and those who love you!

Reminder: Turnover Deadlines for VSDP Family/Personal Leave and Excess
Annual Leave
Please remind your classified staff that there are limits to the amount of
annual leave that can be carried over from year-to-year. For excess
classified annual leave, VSDP Sick, and VSDP Family and Personal leave
purposes (for both classified staff and faculty enrolled in VSDP), the year
runs from January 10-January 9. Unused VSDP Sick and Family and Personal
leave will be replaced with a new allotment of leave if not used by January
9, 2012. New VSDP Sick and Family and Personal Leave will be awarded on
January 10.

If your annual leave balance exceeds the maximum (see chart below) as of
January 9, 2012, you will lose that portion that exceeds the limit. The

Reminder: Floating Holiday
Back in December of 2010, the Governor provided salaried faculty and staff
with 8 hours of additional holiday leave (pro-rated for part-time). Rather
than close the university for a day on 12/23/10, this additional 8 hours of
leave was recorded as a flex holiday which was to be used between December
23, 2010 and December 24, 2011.
