I've actually used it a lot. Some more work is required, but the speedup is very impressive. About two years ago I compared a proprietary solution claiming to be very fast to ECJ + Cuda in terms of speed. Without much optimization and with a stock GTX295 GPU, ECJ was nearly two magnitudes faster.
