Dear BIOS PhD Students,

We invite you to submit an application for the annual Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) Scholarship.  This $1,000 scholarship award is given to a student in the PhD Biosciences Program that demonstrates excellence in research and education.

All doctoral students are eligible to apply.  The applicant should submit a 1,000 word maximum essay describing why they are deserving of this award and cite specific meritorious achievements from their graduate studies which can include coursework performance, research activities, poster and oral presentations, patent applications, and peer-reviewed journal publications or manuscripts in review.

The deadline for receipt of these application essays will be April 1, 2011.  Applications should be submitted as either an MS Word file or a PDF file and should include the applicant's name and thesis adviser.  

Selection of the awardee will occur by no later than April 15, 2011 and the student selected for the award will be notified shortly thereafter.
