Greetings Fellow ABFAS & Mason Colleagues, * On* *Friday, February 18th* the Association of Black Faculty, Administrators and Staff will host */"Celebrating the Educators - Sharing the Legacy,"/* as part of Mason's Black History Month celebration. The event will be held in the Johnson Center's *George's Restaurant at 5:30 PM*. *Dr. Peter Stearns, University Provost, *is scheduled to make welcoming remarks and attend our Meet-n-Greet reception. We encourage you to make plans to attend this event. "Why should we attend" do you ask? The answer to that question is quite simple... > As most of your are aware, ABFAS has undergone a substantial > restructuring this past year. During the course of this process, we > were faced with multiple issues, but thanks to the perseverance and > commitment of a handful of your colleagues, the organization has > rebuilt its infrastructure and is restoring its presence on campus. > However, we must agree that this organization _cannot function > effectively _without the consistent support and participation of > faculty, administrators, and staff who share the vision and interests > of this organization. > We've re-established our relationship with the university's > administration and they have committed themselves to working with > ABFAS going forward and utilizing our members' knowledge and insight > on issues effecting the Black and African Heritage community at > Mason. * *With this in mind, we pause to ask you the timeless > questions, "If not us then who? If not now then when?" We encourage > you to join us for this fun event celebrating Black History Month, and > renew your commitment to support diversity initiatives at Mason. > *Please RSVP to this email or to the evite that was sent out. * > Sincerely, > > > Kevin R.
