Welcome back Communications students!
On Wednesday, September 9 from 9:30-12noon in Dewberry Hall, the
Communications Department will host their annual Welcome Back
Event. I wanted to personally invite you to visit our table to learn more
about how and where you can earn COMM credits abroad
through
The Center for Global Education (CGE).
This Winter Break, CGE's ever-popular Public Relations Program
in London will run for the 10th consecutive year. Led by the COMM
department's Professor Mike Dickerson, the program will fulfill 3
credits in COMM 392 in just two weeks.
Students who participate in the London PR Program often network and
set themselves up for a Hybrid Semester Internship in London the
following year, where students are placed with PR firms like The Bell
Pottinger Group as they earn 6 graduate or 9 undergraduate credits,
some of which may even be in Communications.
Another great opportunity to earn COMM credit abroad will come next
summer in MILAN. In just two years time this program has become one
of CGE's finest, in part because of the great leadership of Dr. Cathy
Wright, the program's faculty director.
While on the Milan program students earned 3 COMM credits plus 3
more credits in their choice of ARTH, FAVS, FRLN, TOUR, or HIST or
3 more COMM credits. Click on Milan to see a cool video made by a
student who went on last year's trip!
If money is an issue, keep in mind scholarships and financial aid
can be
applied to the programs. Questions? Concerns? Don't hesitate to contact
Erin Mateu at (703) 993-3864 to learn more about how she can help you
separate yourself from the pack by adding a global component to your
Communications portfolio. Start an online application right now!
Thanks for reading, everyone. Look for us at the fair and in your classes
this fall. Wishing you a great start to your semester!
Sincerely,
Kevin Stoy
