These grants provide support for women undergraduate and graduate
students in Computer Science and are available to online and onsite
attendants of GECCO.
As there is no need to have a paper accepted at GECCO 2022, all
interested women are encouraged to apply.

The SIGEVO Dissertation award will recognize excellent thesis research
by doctoral candidates in the field of evolutionary computing.
Dissertations will be reviewed for technical depth and significance of
the research contribution, potential impact on the field of
evolutionary computing, and quality of presentation. The SIGEVO Best
Dissertation award will be given annually to a maximum of 1 winner and
a maximum of 2 honorable mentions. The award presentation will take
place at the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO)
awards ceremony in July.
The award will carry a monetary value, contributed by SIGEVO, of
$2,000 to be awarded to the winner and $1,000 to each of the honorable
mentions. The award winner and honorable mentions will each receive a
beautiful plaque.

Subject: AutoInit software for model initialization
AutoInit is a weight initialization method that automatically adapts
to different neural network architectures. It tracks the mean and
variance of signals as they propagate through the network and
initializes the weights at each layer to avoid exploding or vanishing
signals. AutoInit can be used to improve performance of feedforward,
convolutional, and residual networks; configured with different
activation function, dropout, weight decay, learning rate, and
normalizer settings; and applied to vision, language, tabular,
multi-task, and transfer learning domains. We have found it
particularly useful with evolutionary neural architecture search,
where it allows evaluating each candidate more fairly. The software
package provides a simple wrapper that makes it possible to apply
AutoInit to existing TensorFlow models as-is. We invite you to try it
out and see if it can improve the performance of your neural network
models!

Scope of the Conference
=================
Swarm intelligence is the discipline that deals with the study of
self-organizing processes both in nature and in artificial systems. Researchers
in ethology and animal behavior have proposed a number of models to explain
interesting aspects of collective behaviors, such as movement coordination,
shape-formation, and decision making. Recently, algorithms and methods inspired
by these models have been proposed to solve difficult problems in many domains.
Among these, we particularly mention ant colony optimization (ACO) and particle
swarm optimization (PSO), focusing respectively on discrete and continuous
optimization problems. Another field of techniques derived from swarm
intelligence is swarm robotics with focus on designing collaborative
multi-robot systems that show high degrees of robustness and scalability. With
ANTS 2022 we want to give researchers in swarm intelligence the opportunity to
meet, to present their latest research, and to discuss current developments and
applications. The three-day conference will be held for the first time in
Malaga, Spain, on November 2-4, 2022.

ANTS 2022 solicits contributions dealing with any aspect of swarm intelligence.
Typical, but not exclusive, topics of interest are:

*Scope of the Conference

The Metaheuristics International Conference (MIC) conference series
was established in 1995 and this is its 14th edition!
MIC is nowadays the main event focusing on the progress of the area of
Metaheuristics and their applications. As in all previous editions,
provides an opportunity to the international research community in
Metaheuristics to discuss recent research results, to develop new
ideas and collaborations, and to meet old and make new friends in a
friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Considering the particular moment, the conference will be held in
presence and online mode. Of course, in case the conference will be
held in presence, the organizing committee will ensure compliance of
all safety conditions.
MIC 2022 is focus on presentations that cover different aspects of
metaheuristic research such as new algorithmic developments,
high-impact and original applications, new research challenges,
theoretical developments, implementation issues, and in-depth
experimental studies.
MIC 2022 strives a high-quality program that will be completed by a
number of invited talks, tutorials, workshops and special sessions.

The purpose of BIOMA is to provide a forum for presentation and
discussion of the latest theoretical and applied results in
bioinspired optimization methods and their applications. Authors will
also have the opportunity to present their software tools and
case-studies.
Conference Topics: Prospective authors are invited to submit original
papers (not being considered for presentation or publication
elsewhere) describing theoretical or applied research. Papers
addressing real-world applications are especially welcome. Areas of
interest include Evolutionary Computation, Swarm Intelligence, Neural
Computation, Artificial Life and related bioinspired methods, and
their applications in science, engineering and business.
