Subject: Metaheuristics for Prescriptive Analytics Stream at IFORS
2020 - Call for abstracts
Dear colleague,
the 22nd Conference of the International Federation of Operational
Research Societies (IFORS 2020) will be held on June 21-26, 2020 in
Seoul, South Korea; see http://secure-web.cisco.com/1nHsdrzd5q4h7M6w5R5ob55SRQcb7fDqtvO6-ttLTlWeJX152PoLDaRSMDfWQu94AM3CZmojSqESLQpx3N-XJTlDuJYYB8PypFsnNsBoDk9RMviV_Hd3-CDos6oB6wnLpKugBCPnlR7RyBo4pvq4pDcaPupl35ttmehPnUg4Ff6cxE2e82acQkmaZ_M6qNEVuYrfPM8YgOtsdPXLMyYJLGe9doe8VD1cxqWeastjFczzYwgd1hD0-J084hVm__caPFMlesJB4zQddpTIUVI_NX2CtVbSdOdpNZyl6EntqbYZG0IOrRnsO3K7DG81ibSDI9scf4BQ_wSQ4CompUAyf2XNF0D7Nlz_SKawziWsALlbvCZn7pxdlglwLaTBeMoo7ePCrXi359U5YdBApnc_ExsWUa_G8oo1dHmZ5VqjLQ3u1tP6N9Udj_JkPdPbOwqy0fdrOaZaaPRypxBtX2DGHpw/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ifors2020.kr%2F
We are organizing the stream Metaheuristics for Prescriptive Analytics
and you are invited to submit an abstract for the sessions of this
stream.
Prescriptive analytics is the final phase of Business Analytics - it
not only anticipates what will happen and when it will happen, but
also why it will happen and especially what should be done.
Prescriptive analytics entails the hybridization of data science with
optimization techniques (e.g. metaheuristis or matheuristics) and
suggests decision options which take advantage of the results of
descriptive and predictive analytics.
Metaheuristics and matheuristics provide a modern framework to handle
complex, real-world problems also with uncertainty and real-world
constraints, data science embodies the use of prediction and
information models in practical contexts.
Topics include but are not limited to data driven metaheuristic and
matheuristic search techniques and meta - analytics methods for
problems in business administration (e.g. logistics, production,
marketing, finance, human resources ...).

Optimization (EMO)" stream at IFORS and we welcome session proposals
within the scope of EMO including:
Applications of EMO to continuous, combinatorial or mixed-integer problems
Many-objective optimization
Hybridization with exact methods
Multi-objective Local search and other multi-objective metaheuristics,
such as Ant Colony Optimization, Particle Swarm Optimization,
Estimation of Distribution Algorithms, etc.
Preference handling and MCDM techniques in EMO and interactive approaches
Constraint handling techniques
Parallel EMO
Performance assessment and benchmarking
Automatic algorithm selection, configuration and design
Data-driven and bayesian optimization and other applications of
evolutionary machine learning
Real-world applications
As a session organiser, your role will be to select abstract
submissions or invite authors to deliver a talk within your session. A
session typically consists of four talks. If there are more than four
speakers, it is still possible that the same organisers hold more than
one session dedicated to the same topic.
If you are interested in organising a session, please contact us
(contact information below) with a tentative title and description of
your proposal. Once accepted, we will include your session in the
electronic Abstract Submission System and you can invite speakers to
your session conveniently (a session can naturally have more than one
organizer in which case you'll just have to decide who will chair the
session).
The abstract submission deadline is January 17, 2020, so all abstracts
of your session should be in the Abstract Submission System before
that date. Please note that abstracts must be written in English and
contain no more than 1500 characters in plain text format (no formulas
allowed). Each registered attendee is allowed to give one presentation
at the conference. The speaker must enter the abstract and will be
shown as the first author.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Abstract Submission Deadline - January 17, 2020
Abstracts Accepted/Rejected Deadline - January 31, 2020
Early-bird Registration Deadline - February 28, 2020
Speakers Registration Deadline - March 1, 2020
With best regards,
Richard and Manuel.

Subject: GECCO 2020 Competition on OCP and USCP - Call for participation
Dear colleagues,
we are pleased to invite you to take part in the 1st Competition on
the Optimal Camera Placement Problem (OCP) and the Unicost Set
Covering Problem (USCP) that will be part of the next Genetic and
Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO 2020, at Cancun, Mexico,
8-12 July 2020).
If an area is defined as a set of three-dimensional sample points to
be covered, and if camera configurations are sampled into so-called
candidates each with a given set of position and orientation
coordinates, then the optimal camera placement problem (OCP) comes
down to select the smallest subset of candidates which covers all the
samples.
The OCP is structurally identical to the unicost set covering problem
(USCP), which is one of Karp's well-known NP-hard problems: given a
set of elements I (rows) to be covered, and a collection of sets J
(columns) such that the union of all sets in J is I, find the smallest
subset of J which covers I.
The main goal of this competition is to encourage innovative research
works by proposing to solve challenging OCP problem instances stated
as USCP.
The contest gathers 69 OCP problem instances: 32 of them are academic
problems (various sizes and discretizations of an empty room modeled
by a rectangular cuboid with cameras on the ceiling), and 37 of them
are real-world problems (various sizes and discretizations of urban
areas with cameras on the walls of the buildings).
Details of the competition (problem instances, data formats,
competition tracks, rules for registration, submission and evaluation,
...) are available at:

PUBLICATION:
In addition to their competition entries, participants will have the
opportunity to submit a short description of their algorithm for
publication in the GECCO Companion (2-page contribution).
IMPORTANT DATES:
March 20, 2020: Early competition registration deadline (needed for
GECCO Companion submissions)
April 3, 2020: Submission deadline for GECCO Companion abstracts
April 17, 2020: Notification of acceptance for GECCO Companion abstracts

The Sixteenth International Conference on Parallel Problem Solving
from Nature (PPSN XVI) will be held in Leiden, The Netherlands on
September 5-9, 2020.
PPSN was originally designed to bring together researchers and
practitioners in the field of Natural Computing, the study of
computing approaches which are gleaned from natural models. Today, the
conference series has evolved and welcomes works on all types of
iterative optimization heuristics. Notably, we also welcome
submissions on connections between search heuristics and machine
learning or other artificial intelligence approaches.
Submissions covering the entire spectrum of work, ranging from
rigorously derived mathematical results to carefully crafted empirical
studies, are invited.
Following PPSN’s unique tradition, all accepted papers will be
presented during poster sessions and will be included in the
proceedings. The proceedings will be published in the Lecture Notes in
Computer Science (LNCS) series by Springer.
