The Office of Sustainability has two paid internships opportunities, one for outreach and the other related to transportation. The work can start as early as May and as late as August. Below are the descriptions, please feel free to share you’re your students. Transportation Intern
Mason’s Office of Sustainability and Office of Parking and Transportation Services aims to build awareness and encourage behavioral change across all of Mason’s campuses to minimize its environmental footprint and promote a sustainable culture. If you are interested in working in the sustainability field, consider joining us! The Transportation Analyst Internship position will aid the Office of Sustainability and Parking and Transportation Services with research, analysis, events, and support to advance Mason’s transportation program such as biking, carshare, carpool, and shuttle programs. Applicants should be strong in aggregating and analyzing data as well as outreach including being comfortable talking to and surveying passerbys. The analyst will also supervise service learners and have the opportunity to lead research, analyses, education, and outreach efforts on other sustainability related topics. The Transportation Analyst Internship is a paid $12 an hour internship, with some flexibility for advanced experience. The candidate is expected to work 10 to 20 hours per week. Outreach Intern
Mason’s Office of Sustainability aims to build awareness and encourage behavioral change across all of Mason’s campuses to minimize its environmental footprint and promote a sustainable culture. If you are interested in working in the sustainability field, consider joining us! The outreach intern will help promote the Office of Sustainability’s key outreach programs such as the Green Patriots program, Earth Month, and other signature sustainability events. He or she will assist with raising awareness of sustainability issues through word of mouth, printed materials, and social media; assist with event logistics; and oversee service learners and volunteers. The position will help track, measure, and report on the success of events and overall efforts. The intern must be detailed oriented, organized, and good at multi-tasking and logistics. He or she is responsible, responsive, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and comfortable presenting in front of faculty, staff, and students to promote sustainability-related activities. He or she will also need to conduct independent research on best practices at other universities and recommend approaches that would apply to Mason.
