CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Big data and data science are topics of the moment. Among the raft of
conferences on these subjects few have a clear focus on the underpinning
theoretical methodologies to maximise the information that can be
extracted in the presence of inherent uncertainties, sampling bias, data
streams, data linkage and all of the other specific features of
so-called big data applications. This conference will showcase work by
young and established researchers advancing the state-of-the-art on a
rigorous mathematical basis. Alongside new methodology there will be
application strands led by industry to showcase the power of
mathematical approaches in practical applications. Each session will
feature an invited talk by an expert speaker who will review an advanced
area of current research.
Invited Speakers

Niall Adams, Imperial College London
Peter Diggle, University of Lancaster
Mark Girolami, University of Warwick
Peter Grindrod, University of Oxford
Carola-Bibiane Schönlieb, University of Cambridge

Topics of interest

Papers should describe mathematical challenges specific to the following
topics or their application in large-scale use cases:
 Optimal and dynamic sampling
Probably approximately correct methodologies
Uncertainty modelling & generalisation error bounds
Network analysis & community finding
Graph & web mining methods
Trend tracking & novelty detection
Stream data management
Dynamic segmentation & clustering
Transfer learning
Latent models for hierarchical data
Deep learning
Context awareness
Multimodal data linkage
Integration of multi-scale models
Mining of unstructured, spatio-temporal, streaming and multimedia data
Computational intelligence in large sensor networks
Predictive analytics and recommender systems
Real-time forecasting
Access on-demand in distributed databases
Affordable high performance computing
Privacy protecting data mining
Data integrity & provenance methods
Visualization methods
Mathematics underpinning large-scale use cases

Call for Abstracts Papers will be accepted for the conference based on a
300-500 word abstract for oral or poster presentation. We welcome
abstracts to be submitted by Friday 30th September 2016 by e-mail to
[log in to unmask] Please state whether your title is intended for
oral or poster presentation.
