I agree with your saying on BW and color TV, however I experienced that
people whose main business is not development, do not always like the
transition to color tv and try to emulate what they know from svn on git :)

Full ack. Hope Sean's inhouse IT gets this done despite the outages he
mentioned :) I got some experience in servers, svn and general DevOps
setups, so I can offer my help as well.
