Attached is the flyer for this spring’s UNIV 304.
The course was unanimously endorsed by this semester’s UNIV 304 students,
who said it made such an important contribution to their understanding of
the BIS program, their future plan of study, and the resources at George
Mason that support their success that it should be required. We strongly
recommend that students take it near the beginning of their BIS program,
either concurrently with BIS 300 or before they take BIS 390. Students who
have taken UNIV 304 while further along in the program still benefit but say
they wish they had taken it earlier. Joe Killiany did a great job this
semester and will be teaching the class going forward.
Students who have already taken UNIV 304 can do a BIS 489 Peer Mentor
Directed Reading and play a continuing role in the course while developing
their leadership skills and helping out their fellow students. The Peer
Mentor follow-up can be 1-3 credits depending on how much students plan to
contribute.
The class will meet this spring on Saturday January 24th and Saturday March
28th 9am-4:30pm with breakfast and lunch provided.
If you have any questions, please call the BIS office at 703-993-4556.
