Quick suggested improvement:





>         schedule.scheduleRepeating(new Steppable()

>         {

>             public void step(SimState state)

>             {

>                 trailSpace.updateSpatialIndex();

>         }, -1, 1);



This will cause updateSpatialIndex() to happen before anything else each timestep.
