Dear History grad students,
On October 27 the department is hosting a conference on the Cuban
Missile Crisis, featuring Sergei Khrushchev and our own Marty Sherwin.
There will be several volunteer opportunities surrounding the event, and
I'd like to invite you to participate.
Here's what we'll need:
*Someone to pick up one participant--Dino Brugioni, the CIA officer who
briefed Kennedy on the Cuban missile sites--from his home in Warrenton
on the morning of the 27th and drive him to campus by 8:30.
*Someone to drive Khrushchev to the airport following the event, at
around 2:30 or so.
*Someone with a minivan to drive some of the older participants from the
Mason Inn to Harris Theater on the morning of the event--around 10:00.
*four or five volunteers to sit with authors at the book signing from
1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and collect money for the books.
If you are interested in helping out in one or more of these areas,
please write me ([log in to unmask]) to let me know.
