Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to report that Kenneth Ball has accepted the Deanship of the
Volgenau School of Engineering, beginning next August. As you know, Ken is
a mechanical engineer, currently at Virginia Tech. I believe Ken will
maintain the splendid momentum established under Lloyd's deanship, and I
look forward to working with him.

My special thanks to the search committee, chaired by Jorge Haddock, for
their splendid work on this important assignment.

Best wishes,
Peter Stearns
