To all current BIS students:

The Spring 2011 schedule is now available for viewing only on Patriot Web. I
am told by the Registrar’s office that individual registration time tickets for
Spring 2011 will not be published on Patriot Web until Monday, October 18. In
the meantime, see the list of registration dates per student status (i.e.
freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, non-degree) on the Registrar’s website:
http://registrar.gmu.edu/calendars/2011Spring.html#tickets

To increase your chances of getting seats in the classes you want for next
semester, you must plan early. Below are a few tips to help you:

1. Know when you can register/Check your Registration Time Ticket in Patriot
Web (see note above):

a. Go to https://patriotweb.gmu.edu/
b. Login
c. Click on “Student Services”
d. Click “Registration”
e. Click “Registration Status and Time Ticket, Override Notification, Wait List
Position”
f. Term: Select “Spring 2011” and submit
g. There is a box that will say, “You may register during the following times” –
the date and time listed is your individual registration time ticket (this is
determined by your class standing, i.e. freshman, sophomore, junior, senior,
non-degree)

2. Plan ahead:
a. Meet with an advisor to discuss what requirements you still need, whether in
relation to general education, BIS core or concentration coursework.
b. Review the prerequisites for the courses in the university catalog to ensure
you have met those requirements: http://catalog.gmu.edu/
c. If you have plans to study elsewhere for any reason, you must get
permission from the Dean’s office of the College of Humanities and Social
Sciences to have those courses transferred back to George Mason. See their
website for more information: http://chssundergrad.gmu.edu/courseelsewhere

3. Be aware of deadlines:
a. The academic calendar for each semester is posted on the Registrar’s
website, please review the calendar and note important deadlines, such as:
    i. First day of classes
    ii. Add/drop deadlines
    iii. Incomplete deadlines
    iv. Exam periods
    v. Commencement
        1. If you plan to graduate in Spring or Summer 2010, please see the
Graduation Services website: http://registrar.gmu.edu/graduation/index.html

As always, if you have any questions please contact the BIS staff.
