The National Historical Publications and Records Commission of the U.S. National Archives is recruiting a Director for Technology Initiatives who will work with applicants and grantees in our Digitizing Historical Records and Electronic Records program areas, as well as handling some other Archives and Records grantees.    

Program officers at the NHPRC have to be versatile * they answer phone calls, give comments on proposal drafts, find peer reviewers, write up analyses of projects, and monitor grantees reporting and performance. They also participate in professional meetings, give workshops, conduct site visits, and prepare research pieces on broader trends in historical research.  We are a small, energetic staff that works hard to ensure that Commission grants improve access to the nation's historical records. Learn more about us at http://www.archives.gov/nhprc/   

Please note that to be eligible you must have one year experience "providing guidance on federal grant-related, archival or historical topics, developing technology standards for archival records management systems and preparing summaries of specialized documents or writing and/or evaluating grant proposals."  The job announcement is on the USAJOBS website listing under Archives Specialist (GS-13). Applications must be RECEIVED by November 10, 2009.  The starting salary for this position is $ 86,927.00.
