In tutorial2.params, the following line

pop.subpop.0.species.fitness = ec.simple.SimpleFitness

is missing from the file in the ECJ 16 distribution (ecj.zip) file.

Given the comment of Michael Sullivan from last year, something similar may 
be missing from tutorial 3 and 4.
