You may check JMSL library http://www.vni.com/products/imsl/jmsl/jmsl.html
developed by Visual Numerics.  They have an extensive set of Java classes
for function optimization, including general nonlinear programming solver.
Unfortunately, it is not open source software so you'd probably need to buy
a license.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a java numerical equation
solver/maximzer? There are a lot of math utility libraries out there, and I
thought folks out there, especially you EC types, might have tools/code
libraries you have successfully used and trust.  Perhaps someone recommends
a library for constrained optimization of linear/non-linear functions?
