Dean Ball’s current term as Dean of the Volgenau School of Engineering 
expires on August 9, 2022. He has elected to seek reappointment. The 
review process for reappointment will begin this semester, consistent 
with university protocol.

The first step in this process is for the Provost to select the 
Reappointment Review Committee. The Committee will consist of no fewer 
than seven (7) individuals: chaired by the Dean of another academic 
unit, at least three (3) VSE faculty, one (1) VSE staff member, and two 
(2) non-VSE faculty. The Provost will select the members of the 
Reappointment Committee and he has requested that the VSE faculty send 
to him nominees from VSE to represent a diverse cross-section of the VSE 
faculty.

22. Depending on the number of nominees, we may hold a vote; however, 
the Provost will make the final appointments.
