Dear CEC Faculty,
In response to President Washington's Inclusive Excellence mandate and The College of Engineering and Computing's Inclusive Excellence (IE) plan, The Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning in collaboration with The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) and in connection with The College of Science (COS) invites STEM faculty to the Stearns Center's Inclusive Teaching short course online workshop about ABET inclusion expectations on Thursday, November 10 from 2 pm - 3 pm.
This course is focused on faculty who are designing or redesigning courses soon (for university course tags, for example) or for individuals within your Departments who sit on curriculum committees? Please also note that while the above criterion is encouraged it is not a requirement, and all faculty interested in ABET expectations and inclusive teaching are welcomed to register for the session.
Workshop content will include:
Syllabi That Support Learners and Instructors - Designing and Redesigning Syllabi for Inclusive Classrooms and ABET Expectations
Learning outcome:
At the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a greater understanding of the potential considerations for designing and redesigning inclusive course syllabi and aligning with broader institutional initiatives and ABET expectations.
Continuing Professional Development: This workshop is approved for the "Design" category of the Stearns Center's CPD Level 1 Certificate<https://stearnscenter.gmu.edu/programs/stearns-center-opportunities/continuing-professional-development/>.
Christi Wilcox from the Diversity, Outreach and Inclusive Learning Team in CEC can be contacted at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with any questions you may have about workshop content.
The Stearns Center, CEC, and COS look forward to hearing feedback about your experience with the workshop and how we can support GMU faculty in making our STEM curriculum more inclusive!
