As I've had several requests, here are some details on settings for
Thunderbird (17.0.5) and the Apple Mail app (6.3).

*Note: please verify the server name in the OWA web interface as it may
NOT be the same for everyone.*

If you can't log in to the web interface using your ID (just jdoe), then
you need to reset your password on https://password.gmu.edu

When using IMAP, your user name is your full email address ([log in to unmask]).

*Thunderbird:*

IMAP: pod51010.outlook.com (verify this in the web interface)
port: 993
Authentication method: Normal password
Connection Security: SSL/TLS

SMTP: pod51010.outlook.com (verify this in the web interface)
Port: 587
Authentication: method: Normal password
Connection Security: STARTTLS

*Apple Mail app (will require manual configuration):*

IMAP: pod51010.outlook.com (verify this in the web interface)
port: 993 (check SSL box next to port)
Authentication: password (on Advanced tab under accounts)

*select "Edit SMTP server list" in drop down window for Outgoing Mail
Server*

server name: pod51010.outlook.com (verify this in the web interface)

On advanced tab:

Check "Use default ports (25, 465, 587)"
Check "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
Authentication: Password

I have tested these settings and they work with the versions listed.

Jonathan
