Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering

The University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) has begun an ambitious faculty hiring campaign. The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) is very pleased to announce that it is now seeking candidates for multiple tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, with a start date of August 2022.

Successful faculty candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field, and have a strong record of research and teaching. Individuals with expertise in operations research, production and service systems, and human factors engineering in domains such as defense and cyber security, disaster management, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, health systems, transportation and logistics, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable manufacturing are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a history of successful, team-based, interaction with faculty, students and staff from diverse backgrounds, especially underrepresented minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and veterans. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active research program, teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

UB ISE is ranked among the top 25 ISE graduate programs in the U.S. We offer B.S., M.S., M.E., Ph.D. degrees, with concentrations in operations research, human factors, production systems or engineering management. We are known for our strong focus on graduate research and education, having over 300 graduate students and approximately 180 undergraduates.

UB has many resources that are available to its faculty to support and enhance research programs. UB ISE faculty lead or are core members of several key university research centers such as the UB Center of Excellence in Sustainable Manufacturing and Robotic Technology, the Center of Excellence in Global Health Equity, the Center for Multisource Information Fusion, Center for Computational Research and the Stephen Still Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics. We frequently collaborate with faculty of UB’s Jacob School of Medicine, School of Architecture and Planning, and College of Arts and Sciences, as well as many of the eight other engineering departments within SEAS.

UB faculty enjoy a high quality of life. Buffalo is a city with a rapidly growing economy, eclectic neighborhoods, world-class art galleries and museums, a vibrant theater and music community, the Lake Erie waterfront, a city-wide system of parks designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, and major and minor league sports teams. Niagara Falls is just 20 minutes away. The department is located on the UB North Campus in suburban Amherst, an area that combines outstanding public schools and services with a low cost-of-living.

Diversity and inclusion are core values of our university culture, and we strongly encourage individuals of under-represented minority status to apply. UB has made significant efforts to promote diversity and create highly supportive work and academic environments for its workforce and students. The UB SEAS Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion initiative provides educational and programmatic events and resources to support inclusion among engineering faculty, staff and students.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, research, teaching and diversity statements, and the names and contact information of three references. Review of applications will begin immediately but applications will be received until the positions are filled. We request that applications be submitted by November 30, 2021.

All applications should be submitted to UB Jobs - https://secure-web.cisco.com/1ZEx8u3oh6JyEYBQce9Ip-hYFiWFR-4GzfPYOIRPLzv0Gu9iUnx_eOq8xScbPUUJRlJqpjPteCLt4yWxP6eoLHDy7udPGHNP5ntFE2YQTPDt9bOZbVYwsP0OXI1RF0hPB1XiYzN1lZbX_ZjgU8jFOWBcA-mfAkRDWIPqkOMuGtoEjeM_iubwZmtXPAZnQaqSQmjdE9bFpsAJ-espixTcGTQiMUb57WeeYn0o7FfhV6gO5vo2jGyljozaVmhNN1TCOJ9bTm5TLqHcSKQEM-Oyql1tbca8iSm_SRESNXDfp-4KpwRGythEbu8xK92n-liNtdb6Gv7JjwvkB-uo0spvF1CWlaISUIccATrH3sJS0tHSmclctTqi3J9prAJhF_ftzmfPtx8pITTMfzDAiuMWU7dx7zfajNwaAdY4YlJ1-VWJO69MsdhYlq-wwqmV4ZaYgZeGyibeaKvaWZ14rpk10zQ/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ubjobs.buffalo.edu%2Fpostings%2F30488<https://secure-web.cisco.com/1nVMbR_clsZN5oHrAssdEY7HmPe-xwVhYCga2H2A-9AgMNKvcfM8nctLGOffXigZ5H-C1avgBeY6Ak921Bd1WkPBEe6GdH4ws3llwmwhBl3iStHmXT2xsE71PnOFV_pFq82XnLUZyL0KcJCEMMZcnF0QtAWqs1WXcSaqGQd_JMcN3FFM-s_nMogfaIAKjhDe9jUdSO-dJcERKLj8FBQrZkst12dthKMpNXvYRIQSQ8YbD6YAno5FOCeUD5ceMdJxTgNIwAGsdcte0NHTp8pwpH35150N-O6rfLHv3ilNnHXGQeQeZvPdMmlv3BDUp3-5SE7JhZC6eWKbRXS4_wrXadXbhOSQ6QgCYOx52YHYuddAFmpPzv2huUyyMuTgwSUWYs5689Qf608JsLBPROLLoq2or8zyPvspQqeXoyqzeKdZ8yYqlDyb8Dl9zSjmYnHTT/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ubjobs.buffalo.edu%2Fpostings%2F30488>.
