Registering for IT 998, IT 999
We are officially three weeks from the start of the Fall 2023 semester. If you have completed your core coursework and will be registering for IT 998 for the first time, please reach out to me for a CRN# if you have not already. Please keep in mind that once you register for IT 998 for the first time, you have one year from that point to attempt the Oral Comprehensive Exam.
Students that advanced to candidacy during the Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 semester should reach out to me to request a CRN# for IT 999. Please be aware that once a student advances to candidacy, they must maintain continuous enrollment in IT 999 as per AP.6.10.6<https://catalog.gmu.edu/policies/academic/graduate-policies/#ap-6-10-6>.
If you are a continuing student that has prior enrollment in IT 998 or IT 999, you will need to send me an updated Dissertation Progress Report form. This form can be found on the INFT Blackboard Portal<https://mymasonportal.gmu.edu/webapps/login/?action=guest_login&new_loc=%2Fwebapps%2Fblackboard%2Fexecute%2FcourseMain%3Fcourse_id%3D_298236_1>.
Final Defense Scheduling
If you are planning to hold your final defense in Fall 2023, click here<[log in to unmask]" target="_blank">https:[log in to unmask]> to review a list of available dates for September, October, and November. Please consult with your committee before reserving a date on the web site. Final defense announcements must be distributed to the College a minimum of two weeks before the presentation date, so it is in your best interest to begin discussing availability with your committee sooner rather than later.
That is enough information for one email. Enjoy the rest of the Summer!
