The Structural Engineers Association of Metropolitan Washington (SEA-MW) is pleased to announce its second annual The Next Step: A Forum for Future Structural Engineers. Last year's inaugural event was a huge success, with over 75 students and faculty attending from 15 local universities including 8 students from George Mason University.
This free event held in Washington DC, on November 11, 2016 will be a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to learn more about the structural engineering profession, connect with other local structural engineering students, meet with local professionals, participate in the career fair, and get exposure to future potential employers. The program will include presentations by local engineers and a keynote speech by Founder and CEO of CSI Berkley (creator of analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS and SAFE) Ashraf Habibullah. Presentations will touch on a variety of introductory and in-depth topics within the field of Structural Engineering. There will also be a career fair attended by many of the premier local (and global) structural engineering firms. With the local construction market heating up and structural engineering offices busier than ever, this will be a great opportunity for the students to get their resumes in the hands of local companies and secure a full-time or internship position for the coming year.
Attached is a flier with this year's event information. To continue the success of last year's event, please forward this to your students and fellow faculty members. We hope to see you in Washington, DC. Please register for the event here<>.
