This summer Bioengineering senior Emma Dando was interned with the Worchester polytechnic Institute. Here is what she writes: Worchester Polytechnic Institute's Virtual Internship in Biomedical Engineering (VIBE) program is an 8 week program that places students from across the country in teams of four to research, design, develop, and present a project in a low stakes environment that encourages experimentation. The possible projects are supplied by the professors and students. In addition, the program meets three times a week for professional development, design process meetings, and coffee and conversations. During these sessions students have the opportunity to hear from and talk with professors, industry professionals, and other guest lecturers. All sessions can be caught up with asynchronously. The program culminates in a video pitch competition and award celebration. For more information on the Summer 2021 session: and to see the resulting videos from this session

Did you have an internship last summer and would like to tell us about it? Is your senior design group on the brink of making a global impact or you would like to share your lab experience here in the newsletter? Please email a short summary, picture and fill out the attached release form and send to: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Katona Scholarship for Excellence in Bioengineering: The Katona Scholarship for Excellence in Bioengineering is available to rising seniors with a declared major in Bioengineering at George Mason University. Rising seniors means Spring/Summer or Fall 2022 graduation date. This Scholarship is open to Bioengineering students pursuing any concentration within the degree program. Students selected for the scholarship have demonstrated strong academic performance, professional leadership within the university or outside, and exceptional promise for a successful bioengineering career that would benefit society. Selection of the scholarship awardee may be based entirely on merit, however, a compelling financial need will also be considered. The annual Katona Scholarship award levels may vary from year-to-year but it is expected to be no less than $1,000.00.

To be considered, interested students should complete this form and submit it electronically to Ms. Claudia Borke (cborke@gmu,.edu<mailto:cborke@gmu,.edu>) by no later than Monday September 7th, 2020 @ 11:59pm.
