U.S. News & World Report, publisher of the Best Hospitals rankings, seeks a statistician/health data analyst to spearhead the use of data in web-based decision-support tools for people facing complex healthcare choices. U.S. News's data-driven rankings and ratings tools influence both consumer and institutional behavior. The position will offer the right candidate a powerful platform to innovate in the arena of public reporting.
You're the right candidate if: You're intrigued by the prospect of working with data-savvy journalists, programmers and world-class data contractors to develop new ways to evaluate hospitals, doctors, health plans and other healthcare institutions. You're part statistical analyst, part database architect, part problem-solver. You have strong data-analysis skills, know how to clean dirty data and are proficient with statistical packages such as SPSS, R, or SAS, as well as SQL. Experience in dealing with health data is a major plus.
Requirements: Master's degree in statistics or a related field, with training in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
