Hi everyone,
The GMU ASA Student Chapter is hosting a few upcoming lectures that may be of interest to you. These are geared towards a mixed audience of undergraduates and graduate students and will not be too technical. Attendance is not mandatory, but highly encouraged!
Please provide your feedback on the Overview of Bayesian Statistics lecture no later than March 6 (see below for details). We will follow up with locations for the Social Network and Bayesian Statistics lectures closer to the event dates.
* Applications for Statistical Models. Friday, Feb 28, 1:30pm-3:00pm, Engineering 1602. Dr. Tigran Markaryan will be giving a talk on applications for statistical models. In addition to teaching graduate statistics courses at GMU, Dr. Markaryan has more than a decade of experience in analytic consulting and research fields. His expertise includes pharma, retail, energy, education, and many more. So, the talk should be relevant to students interested in statistical consulting or applications of statistics in industry.
* Introductory Overview Lectures in Social Network. Friday, April 3, 2:30pm-4:00pm, location TBD. We will be viewing a webinar hosted by the Statistical Learning and Data Science Section of the ASA on social network analysis. The webinar aims at providing an introduction of modern social network analysis to non-statisticians, statisticians and data scientists with varying statistical knowledge.
