NACE Adds 8th Career Competency
Global/Multicultural Fluency
At its January 2017 meeting, the NACE Board of Directors approved the addition of an eighth competency and a revised title and definition for an existing competency.
The new competency—Global/Intercultural Fluency—is defined as: “Value, respect, and learn from diverse cultures, races, ages, genders, sexual orientations, and religions. The individual demonstrates openness, inclusiveness, sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with all people and understand individuals’ differences.”
The Board also approved changes to the Information Application competency; the competency gained a new title—Digital Technology—and is defined as: “Leverage existing digital technologies ethically and efficiently to solve problems, complete tasks, and accomplish goals. The individual demonstrates effective adaptability to new and emerging technologies.”

The spring career fair was a total success this year with over 250 different employers and over 3,000 students between the two days. This followed a very successful resume clinic earlier in the week, where employers and University Career Service staff members were able to review over 450 resumes! The fair broke records in terms of numbers and we were excited to also have President Cabrera stop by to greet alumni-employers and eager students. The Career Fair would not be the success it is without the many volunteers. We would especially like to thank the Career Influencers Tina Jones, Richard Christ, Lori Scher, Laura Hills, and Kaleb Lewis who volunteered and shared their time. Lastly, We would also like to thank all of the faculty, staff, and administrators who helped promote the event to their students.
