Subject: GMU Cyber Security Department Shines at UVA Hoohacks Hackathon
Dear Dr Brouse,
I hope this email finds you well. I am thrilled to share some exciting news about our recent achievement at the UVA Hoohacks Hackathon this past weekend. The event brought together 620 participants from various universities across the United States, including strong teams from UVA and VT.
My team took first place in the Cyber Security Challenge sponsored by Fannie Mae. This 24-hour challenge had a strong focus on web application security, pentesting and offensive security, with tasks ranging from easy to expert levels. In the sponsor's words, we not only completed a great amount of the tasks but also exceeded the sponsor's expectations, demonstrating an exceptional level of expertise that Fannie Mae has not seen in the past.
The competition was intense, and our victory was a result of our team's dedication and hard work. We were pleased to discover that the second-place team was also from GMU, comprised of talented Computer Science students.
I am honored to have represented GMU in this competition and proud of our achievements. I look forward to further showcasing the strength of our department in future events like this. As the Associate Chair of the CYSE department, you must be pleased to know that your dedication to fostering a strong academic environment is reflected in our success.
Best regards,
Jhonn B. Dalton Cardozo
