2022 Spring GRA Position

Job Description
We are seeking a graduate student to serve as a research assistant from January to May 2022. The selected applicant should be a GMU student (with 6 credit hours registered for the spring) and will be expected to work  20 hours per week. This work will be under the umbrella of a Curriculum Impact Grant meant to implement an undergraduate minor on Ethics & AI. The new minor will be housed in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, though it will be oriented as an interdisciplinary degree. The minor will work to introduce undergraduate students around the university to issues of fairness, accountability, transparency, as well as other social, cultural, political, economic, and ethical issues surrounding technology. No prior experience or expertise is required to apply, but preference will be given to those with experience serving as an RA and/or who are interested in and passionate about the project.

Key Duties
Collecting existing syllabi, studying curricula at peer institutions, helping conduct interviews with key stakeholders, capturing information as we pilot new curriculum, and helping facilitate extracurricular events over the course of the academic year, as well as standard administrative tasks like taking notes, coordinating meetings, conducting email correspondence, and organizing data in excel. The bulk of this work can be conducted remotely, though the selected applicant will need to have a flexible enough schedule to accommodate synchronous video (e.g. Zoom) and/or audio (e.g. phone) meetings during business hours.
