Ronaldo T. "Nick" Nicholson, P.E., Chief Engineer, Infrastructure Project Management Administration, District Department of Transportation
Nick Nicholson, P.E. will discuss DDOT’s effort in maintaining its Bridge and Tunnel assets through both IDIQ and performance based contracts. He will talk about the current efforts in rehabilitating the Mall and 3rd Street tunnel as well as DDOT's success in its largest design-build contract on the 11 Street Bridge. The presentation will conclude by presenting the current efforts and status of transforming the South Capitol Street corridor for economic development, anchored by the replacement of the Fredrick Douglas Bridge.
Mr. Nicholson was appointed Chief Engineer with DDOT in April 2010. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Structural Engineering from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia and the District of Columbia, while currently serving as a member of the AASHTO Standing Committee on Highways, Structure and Bridge Subcommittee, and the Technical Committee on Tunnels. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Civil Engineering at George Mason University.
Please join us for Nick Nicholson’s presentation at the November National Capital Section meeting on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. The meeting will be held at our usual meeting place, the Arlington Hilton, 950 North Stafford Street in Arlington, VA, on the second floor in the Gallery Ballrooms. Parking is available at the hotel ($8), at the Ballston Mall garage ($1 after 6 p.m.), and on the street (free after 6 p.m.). This location is in the same block at the Ballston Station on Metro’s Orange Line. Registration and networking will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner. The program will conclude by 8:30 p.m.
