I'm new to this list and not very familiar with MarcEdit. I discovered this
software just six months ago when looking for a quick and easy way to add a
prefix to call numbers for around 9,000 materials, a feature badly missing
from our library management system.
I'm in charge of cataloging for an English-language library in France and we
are implementing long-term deposit agreements with local French libraries.
In order to facilitate circulation transactions on our loans by these
libraries, I need to convert the bibliographic records of those materials
from their original Marc21 full format to the UNIMARC format used by the
French libraries for the temporary import of our materials into their databases.
In Marc Tools, the "Batch Process Marc Records" functions don't offer the
MARC21-->UNIMARC translation and swapping fields, indicators & subfields in
the MarcEditor utility would take up too much time. Could some wiser people
help me out of this problem with useful tips?
