They actually are not, often, correctly formatted. Many I see are missing the XML statements -- and these are required to be valid -- the parser enforces proper XML encoding.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Batch processing MARCXML to MARC
Hi there.
I am trying to batch process a corpus of authority and name records retrieved from id.loc.gov, from XML to MARC. Of the 638 records, only 33 are successfully processed. As far as I can tell, all of the LC records adhere to the correct schema. Is there an additional recommended pre-processing step I should perform or is there otherwise a known compatibility issue with MarcEdit's batch processor and LC MARCXML?
Running latest MARCEdit stable release on macOS Sierra.
Thanks and regards, Jason
