Hi Jeanne,
When doing batch work on inconsistent records I delete all GMDs. Then use the RDA helper to insert a GMD then edit the default GMD text to our local text.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Editing 245 $h GMDs in MarcEdit
Hello,
We are migrating in two new libraries to our consortium. We both currently use subfield h for GMDs, but theirs are different than ours and theirs vary a lot.
I want to use MarcEdit to change their GMDs to conform with ours so that we have consistency in the database.
I can use a subfield delete to remove their GMDs but I'm not sure how best to add back the subfield with the new GMD. If I just add a subfield it is going to put it at the end, it won't know where in the string to place it. I could do a find and replace but their GMDs vary so much within their own records, that won't work.
I think I need to use a regular expression, but I'm not that proficient with them. I think I've only used one once, some years ago.
And I'm terrible at coding. I want something like this:
Original 245 $aLord Jim$h[DVD] /$cother data.
Replace with 245 $aLord Jim$h[videorecording (DVD)] /$cother data
or
Original 245 $aVera.$nSeries 10$h[DVD] /$cother data.
Replace 245 $aVera$nSeries 10$h[videorecording (DVD)]
Does anyone have any suggestions. I appreciate any help that can be offered.
