Hi,
In the list archives, I found a message from Sarah Quimby sent on
6/6/2012 describing the problem I just ran into.
I was training our E-Resources Cataloging Assistant on a workflow I
developed on my (Windows XP) computer using the OCLC Connexion Batch
Editor plugin. When she followed my documentation (on her Windows 7
machine) and tried loading the local save file from Connexion, she got
the long error message:
"System.Data.OdbcException(0x80131937):ERROR[IM002]" etc...
Terry's 6/6/2012 to Sarah Quimby's report of this problem was:
"My guess is you are on a 64 bit matchine....its a known problem. The
components connexion uses are 32 bit which means the plugin generally
cannot be run on a 64 bit system."
My questions now are:
- Given that it's a known problem, is it ever expected to be fixed? I'm
assuming the problem is in Microsoft or OCLC software components, and
thus beyond Terry's control, so I'm not requesting he do it.
I'm just wondering if my library is going to be permanently losing a
core component of a number of efficient workflows should I ever give in
and let systems "upgrade" me to Windows 7 (or 8... *shudder*).
- Terry wrote "the plugin generally cannot be run on a 64 bit system."
Maybe I'm reading too closely and hopefully, but this seems to imply
that it can sometimes or somehow be run on a 64 bit system.
Is there a way? Has anyone gotten it to work, and how?
thanks,
-=-
