Please forgive me asking this very basic question. I am not a cataloger but have been given the task of converting catalog records saved in .txt format to MARC records so they can be imported into our catalog (we use Library World). I am in over my head.

I was able to convert the 6 files I have to .mrk format. I understand that to import them to our catalog they must be in .mrc format.

Using the MARC tool box I was able to convert some to .mrc (at least I thought I did). When I click on the file with the .mrc extension I get the tool box. If I click execute and then Edit I get a list of records that have Marc field numbers - see below. However the file shows up as .mrk.

I am lost.
I would appreciate any help - remember I am not a cataloger and don't know the jargon.

Best regards,
Catherine Wells
