It's hard to know without seeing files -- but I can tell you a couple of things:
1) MarcEdit doesn't sanitize characters an connexion won't accept all valid UTF8 data when being reimported. If its outside of the MARC8 repetorire, there will be problems.
2) The error message here seems to be related to an xml element -- which corresponds to field numbers. A guess, MarcEdit allows comments by placing # in front of the field number. MarcEdit won't compile those -- this isn't the case when using the connexion plugin. All values are evaluated by the plugin -- so if you had a comment using a # sign, it would cause an error.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Connexion error message after editing and compiling

Another question arising from those OverDrive records I'm doing. Yesterday I installed the Connexion plug-in (and restarted MarcEdit), brought in a batch of records I had imported to Connexion, did a few edits, and compiled the batch. The edits seem to have worked fine, but I get this message on several of the records:

OCLC Connexion

The # character, hexadecimal value 0x23, cannot be included in a name.
Line 1, position 1955.

or: ... Line 1, position 1790. ... Line 1, position 1737.

And so on.

Is this a Connexion problem? A MarcEdit problem? Something I did wrong in the edit? And how can I fix and preferably prevent it?

Thanks again--
