For the specific file in question (attached--40 records for Chinese ebooks) I get error messages when I use MarcBreaker and MarcValidator, as well as when I try to open the .mrc file directly in the MarcEditor. When I open the file with Notepad++, in the 1st record, I see characters "RS""GS"GS" together (end of field and end of record characters). The other records end with just RS-GS (there seems to be an extra "GS" character in the 1st record. After deleting that extra GS character, MarcEdit converts 40 records with a red text (error message). Recompiling the resulting .mrk file from within MarcEdit back to .mrc and then converting the .mrc to .mrk produces a black conversion message (no errors). Of course, I'm not sure whether the 40 records converted the first successful time contain all of the data they are supposed to contain, or if something important has been lost.

I hope this helps,
