If you wanted to only keep one value of a field -- you can use the Add/Delete Subfield function, Enter:
Field: 856
Field Data: springerprotocols.com
Check delete duplicates
This will keep only one 856 with the field data mentioned - and the one kept will be the first one.
The other option would be to just use find and replace to change the field number of the first 856, then delete the value, then switch the field number back.

Subject: [MARCEDIT-L] Deleting fields
Is there a way to delete the first occurrence of a field in MARCEdit? I have two 856 with exactly the same indicators and would like to get rid off one since they are linking to the same resource:
856 40 ‡u http://www.springerprotocols.com/BookToc/doi/10.1385/1592592635
856 40 ‡u

Thanks,
Gosia
